Przedstawiono przypadek pacjenta, u którego zastosowanie spironolaktonu w leczeniu niewydolności serca spowodowało wystąpienie działań niepożądanych, co wymagało zastąpienia tego leku eplerenonem. Omówiono zalety eplerenonu jako antagonisty aldosteronu lepiej tolerowanego niż spironolakton.

A patient in whom treatment of heart failure with spironolactone led to unacceptable adverse effects and required substituting eplerenone for spironolactone was described. The advantages of eplerenone over spironolactone as a better tolerated aldosterone antagonist are discussed.
